De Backery is a family bakery started by Willem and Thea Verhoogt in 1963 in a small shop of 36 m2. Through their constant striving for quality and service at a reasonable price, we have grown to a bakery employing over 35 permanent staff and occupying over 600m2.

In 2005 Mark and Lee-Anne Verhoogt took over De Backery.

All our products are made on our own premises and the same recipes we used when we started are still used today. We now sell a variety of imported Dutch items. We also produce a wide variety of breads, confectionery, pies and sausage rolls.

We are located in the center of Edenvale with easy access to all the main highways. There is ample parking in front of our shop and if you drive through the small cobbled street next to us we have over 60 extra parking bays at the back of our premises with a guard on duty at all times.

We aim, at all times, to produce quality confectionery and breads at a reasonable price together with excellent service in a pleasant atmosphere.
